Industry Engagement Event

Questionnaire

We need to make sure all industry partners who work with us get an opportunity to share their views in forming a UK soft robotics strategy. Therefore, we would like to collect expressions of interest in a soft robotics strategy workshop at the end of October (The form takes about 2-3 minutes to fill):

Workshop

The workshop is completely free and will take place on Tuesday, 3 November 2020 from 14:00 – 16:00 GMT. You can sign up at the end of the page.

Before coming to the workshop:

Industry partners:

Please send us before 15th October 2020 3 slides of outline benchmark tests that represent your future needs. For example,

“Pick N types of rubber balls of A grams and B cm diameter each from a carton of X,Y,Z cm dimensions and place it in N separate cartons. Measure the average time it takes to accomplish the task and report the percentage of successful pick and place operations without dropping midway.”

Be very generic so that you don't have to reveal sensitive details. The purpose is to give a framework for academics to conduct industry relevant experiments.

Academic partners:

Please send us before 15th October 2020 1-2 slides including:

  • A website where industry partners can find your research interests

  • A list of 5 key publications

  • A couple of figures representing your work.

If you have any question, please email Thrishantha Nanayakkara. Email: t.nanayakkara@imperial.ac.uk

Workshop agenda

  1. We will break out into smaller groups to distill a list of areas where soft robotics can contribute and iron out any misconceptions and manage expectations. (30 mins)

  2. Share sticky notes on a virtual board and discuss where soft robotics can contribute (30 mins)

  3. Break out again to discuss a set of benchmark tests for each area of application (40 mins)

  4. Meet again to share notes and discuss future steps (20 mins).
